Youth Advocacy & Engagement

Through the month of April, Hartford Habitat will be highlighting our volunteers from ages 11-18! We are hosting several exciting events, activities, and build days. Please visit our Youth Volunteer “HUB” to view the entire calendar of events!  For questions about any of this information, contact Ryan Gorecki at or call 860.541.2208 ext 2201.

2nd Annual Youth Conference:

Please join us for our first annual Youth Conference on April 27th, 2019. This conference is an opportunity for our future leaders to learn about our mission, support our advocacy efforts as well as assist our “A Bush with Kindness” Program. We are welcoming all volunteers, ages 11 through 18 with a parent/guardian, to strengthen the foundation of our community!

The conference will be held at the CT Non-Profit Center located at 75 Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford starting at 8:45AM. We will be hosting five, 30 minute workshops for all of our guests including; a Habitat “101” information session, a discussion on our Beloved Community, two Habitat on the Hill breakout sessions, and a letter writing seminar! A light snack will be provided mid-morning, and lunch will be catered at noon.

After lunch, we are offering a chance for all of our volunteers to help decorate several playhouses that will be presented to our Homeowners and displayed at the State Capitol! Use your imagination to create a lasting gem for our families, and a reminder of the impact we have had within our community.

Alternative Spring Break/Youth Build Days:

From April 10th through the 13th, we are pleased to invite volunteers ages 16 and 17 to join us on a build site, in our ReStore, or behind the scenes in our office! Please note that for every four volunteers under 18, one chaperone 21 or older must accompany them on site. These spots are filling up fast, so please call Ryan Gorecki at 860.541.2208 ext 2201, to create your volunteer experience!!

Stop & Shop Advocacy Booths:

We are looking for volunteers to help run these events alongside of Habitat staff. Please contact Ryan Gorecki at if you are interested and available for the following dates!!
